She walked along with her grandfather. He was supervising the construction of a boundary wall. On a whim, he picked up a stick and wrote her name, on the fresh cement wall. As he has intended, it brought a smile on her face.

Much has changed over the years, from emptied rooms, to shrinking menus, and minimized garden. The man is long gone. For now, that scribbled name survives.

A Memory Entwined Within A House

My Grandmother’s House – by Kamla Das

( an extract)

I received love ……. That woman died,

The house withdrew into silence, snakes moved

Among books, I was then too young

To read…

My Grandmothers House
Houses have souls, series.

Beautiful! When I see names scratched into concrete, I always wonder what the story was behind that moment. ~Tui, dropping by from the #AtoZChallenge TuiSnider.com

They do! I so feel the vibe of every house and what that house must be saying. Loved it. Keep writing.

This is so sweet. Love wondering how objects are at times the only witness and part of so many tales. If only there was a way to peek into all those memories 🙂

Can’t decide what I love more…the writing or the sketch! Whenever I visit an old house, I always wonder about the lives of the people who built it and lived in it…Will be back for more. #A2ZChallenge

Wow! This is beautiful! Both the write up and the sketch. I just can’t get over your theme, it has so much depth to it! 🙂 May I know the medium you used to create this sketch?

Beautiful. It brought a smile on my face and reminded me of my grandfather’s house. Such beautiful memories. Thanks for the reminder. Good one!

There is a poignancy about this – people go and come and yet that graffiti survives. Nice one.
